The largest user of the A-20 Havocs was the
Russian Air Force. Over 3000 of all types were sent via lend-lease to
Russia. The Russians used them extensively in the ground attack role, in
particular the battle for Stalingrad. They were also used as torpedo
bombers against the German naval units in the Black and Baltic seas. The
Russian pilots praised the Havocs for their speed, maneuverability and
rugged construction. |
